The three-step Chadian hair routine
Ambunu, chebe and shea butter are not three separate trends. They are the sequence Chadian women have used for generations to grow and keep long, healthy hair in one of the harshest climates on earth. This set brings the three together, sourced from the same Sahelian cooperatives we work with directly, no middlemen.
- Ambunu first, to cleanse and detangle. Soaked in warm water, ambunu leaves release a natural slip that washes the scalp and slides through knots, with no synthetic surfactants.
- Chebe second, to coat and protect. Mixed with butter or oil and worked from mid-length to ends, chebe holds moisture against the hair shaft and reduces breakage, which is how length accumulates over time.
- Shea butter to seal. Raw, unrefined Burkina Faso shea, hand-churned by women’s cooperatives, locks everything in and softens the lengths.
